Spx-cmr executive direction visits enem in bonaberi
As part of its mission to support and promote local SMEs, the Executive Director of SPX-CMR conducted a working visit to the facilities of Entreprise Nouvelle d’Électro-Mécanique (ENEM), located in Bonabéri-Ndobo.
This meeting is part of a broader initiative to strengthen ties with leading industrial players and to gain first hand insight into the operational realities of companies specializing in high-level technical subcontracting in Cameroon.
An industrial giant with proven technical expertise
The SPX-CMR delegation was received by ENEM’s top management at an impressive site covering nearly one hectare in Bonabéri-Ndobo. This extensive land area reflects not only the company's operational capacity but also its solid roots within the industrial landscape of Douala’s economic zone.
During the workshop tour, the Executive Director observed state-of-the-art infrastructure and an organizational structure that mirrors ENEM’s longevity. Founded in 1997, the company has thrived for over two decades, positioning itself as a leader in industrial maintenance and construction.
Multidisciplinary expertise serving the industry
ENEM goes beyond standard maintenance; the company deploys a range of critical skills essential to the national economy. The discussions highlighted their core areas of expertise:
- General mechanics and boilermaking: design and repair of tankers, semi-trailers, flatbeds, and equipment carriers.
- Metal construction and piping: fabrication of complex steel structures, tanks, and fuel storage vats.
- Industrial maintenance: factory installation equipment coupled with on-site assembly services.
This expertise, accumulated since 1997, ensures a quality of service that meets the rigorous standards of major contractors operating in Cameroon.
The regulatory challenge
Despite these undeniable strengths, the visit provided an opportunity to discuss the obstacles faced by local industrialists. ENEM’s management highlighted acritical issue: the regulatory environment.
Currently, companies in this sector face two major challenges:
- Legal ambiguity: regulations are sometimes imprecise, leading to varied interpretations that complicate long-term planning and investment.
- Lack of technical specificity: existing laws often remain too general. They do not sufficiently take into account the technical specificities and real-world constraints of the electromechanical and heavy boilermaking trades.
SPX-CMR’s commitment
True to its role as a facilitator, the Executive Director of SPX-CMR reaffirmed the clearing house's commitment to voicing these concerns to the competent authorities. The objective is clear: to advocate for an improved business climate and adapted standardization that fosters the competitiveness of Cameroonian companies like ENEM.
The visit concluded on an optimistic note, with a promise of increased collaboration to establish ENEM as a model of industrial success under the banner of public-private partnership and the promotion of technical "Made inCameroon" excellence.
