Happy new year, mr. minister

The staff of SPX-CMR joined those of MINPMEESA and its affiliated institutions to present New Year's greetings to Minister Achille Bassilekin III.

"Happy New Year and best wishes, Mr. Minister," this phrase was uttered by the SPX-CMR staff on January 29th in Yaoundé as they shook hands with the head of MINPMEESA. Led by its Executive Director, Evariste Yameni, the dozen Of SPX -CMR employees who had traveled to the Palais des  Congrès Conference center of Yaoundé presented their New Year's greetings to Minister Achille Bassilekin III.

 Staff from the Ministry of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts (Minpmeesa), other affiliated organizations such as the SPX-CMR, the APME, the Bank of SMEs, and civil society organizations working in sectors covered by the ministry, like handicrafts, also participated in the ceremony.

The Minister, in his speech, summarized his ministry's achievements for 2025. He highlighted the key success is the advocacy that let to the promulgation of Law 2025/010 of July 15, 2025,laying down the subcontracting activities in Cameroon.

The Minister also noted other significant reforms and structural advancements achieved in promoting entrepreneurship and incubation, and improved access to financing for SMEs. The promotion of local products and import substitution, as well as the structuring of the social economy and the formalization of crafts, were also key priorities.

Achille Bassilekin III designated 2026as the year of youth employment, with a particular focus on high-potential sectors: agri-food; digital technology; crafts; textiles; forestry and timber; and services. He concluded by calling for collective action to strengthen the contribution of SMEs to inclusive growth, the creation of decent jobs, and the promotion of "Made in Cameroon."
