Cameroon-poland : towards the integration of smes into industrial value chains

The audience granted by Minister Achille Bassilekin III to the Ambassador of Poland, H.E. Michał Cygan, lays the foundation for unprecedented technological cooperation. At the heart of the discussions: the modernization of production tools and access to European markets for local subcontractors.

The strengthening of the Yaoundé-Warsaw axis is taking on a strategic dimension. This February, the Minister of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Social Economy, and Handicrafts (MINPMEESA) received the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Cameroon. The purpose of this meeting was to define the outlines of a reinforced economic partnership. This encounter is perfectly aligned with the National Development Strategy (SND30), one of whose pillars is the structural transformation of the Cameroonian economy. With the deployment of Polish giants such as Asseco Group or Pietrucha Group, Cameroon intends to capture essential technology transfers for the upgrading of its SMEs, particularly in agro-industry, construction (BTP), and digitalization.

The stakes of this cooperation go beyond simple commercial exchanges. It involves setting up a mechanism allowing for the integration of Cameroonian SMEs into Polish value chains. Starting in 2026, joint economic missions will be organized to prepare an industrial offensive in 2027. For Cameroonian subcontractors, this means facilitated access to modern agricultural storage equipment and cutting-edge FinTech solutions, which are indispensable for increasing their productivity and competitiveness on the international market.

A Lever for Industrial Subcontracting and "Made in Cameroon"

The SPX-CMR sees this rapprochement as a top-tier opportunity for its members. The interest shown by Polish companies in the Cameroonian market creates an immediate need for reliable and certified local partners. "Sustainable industrialization in Cameroon will rely on strong technological alliances. Poland possesses expertise in civil engineering and agricultural machinery that can transform the daily operations of our SMEs," emphasized a MINPMEESA expert.

For Mr. Achille Bassilekin III, this dynamic must lead to a deeper local transformation. "Our priority is the modernization of our SMEs' production tools. By connecting them to Polish industrial standards, we are not just diversifying our partners; we are strengthening the resilience and excellence of our national industrial fabric," the Minister stated. Poland's expected participation in the PROMOTE salon in June 2026 will mark a decisive step in sealing these agreements. By moving from a raw material export economy to a technology-oriented partnership, Cameroon is reaching a new milestone in its quest for emergence.
