Road infrastructure: the ndu–nkambe section of the ring road enters its final phase
With 31 km of asphalt fully laid, the project has reached a decisive milestone. The company MAG SARL is now focusing on securing the road shoulders to guarantee the durability of this strategic axis in the Northwest.
The opening up of the Northwest region is accelerating. On Lot 2 of the famous Ring Road, the section connecting Ndu to Nkambe (31 km) is now paved along its entire route. February 12, 2026, marked the laying of the final kilometer of the wearing course, a symbolic step that concludes the major asphalt works. Since then, MAG SARL has shifted its teams to the implementation of the double-layer surface dressing on the shoulders. As of February 23, 2026, 18 km have already been completed, in accordance with the execution schedule validated by the contracting authorities.
The ongoing operation, which is crucial for the longevity of the structure, consists of the successive application of two layers of bituminous binder and aggregates. This technique not only improves grip on the edges of the roadway but also reinforces the road's resistance to climatic elements and the intensity of the traffic expected on this corridor. The completion of the wearing course and the rapid progress on the shoulders signal the imminent end of the heavy construction work on this 31 km stretch.
A lever for competitiveness in subcontracting and transport
For the SPX-CMR and logistics subcontracting companies, the upcoming delivery of this infrastructure is excellent news. A high-quality road drastically reduces fleet maintenance costs and secures delivery times for companies operating in the hinterland. "The completion of the Ring Road is not just a technical feat; it is an economic catalyst. For local SMEs, better connectivity means easier access to markets and a reduction in the development gap between rural areas and urban centers," analyzes a civil engineering expert.
This performance dynamic is hailed by economic players in the sector, who see MAG SARL's rigor as a model for meeting deadlines. "Adherence to the execution schedule, especially for finishing works like the double-layer dressing, is a mark of professionalism. It provides reassurance regarding the capacity of national companies to deliver works that meet international standards," emphasizes a public works sector representative. By transforming the road landscape of the Northwest, this project lays the groundwork for inclusive growth and facilitates the region's integration into national trade circuits.
