Agritech innovation challenge 2026: cameroon accelerates rural digital transformation

Officially launched on March 3, 2026, in Yaoundé, the second edition of the Agritech Innovation Challenge (AIC) is opening new horizons for national agritech. Led by the Cameroon Digital Transformation Acceleration Project (PATNUC) with World Bank support, this competition aims to propel local startups to the heart of agropastoral modernization.

Building on the success of the first edition, this year features reinforced financial and technical support. Startups and innovative project leads have until April 12, 2026, to submit their applications on the official platform. The goal is clear: select and mentor 10 digital champions capable of addressing challenges in productivity, sanitary surveillance, and market access for small holders.

Winners will each receive support of up to 40 million FCFA, along with tailored coaching to transform their prototypes into viable industrial solutions.

For the SPX-CMR, this challenge is abreeding ground for technological partners for processing industries and exporters.

"The Agritech Innovation Challenge is more than a contest; it is a 'Local Content' solution incubator. For the SPX-CMR, these startups represent the high-level subcontractors our industries need to ensure product traceability and digitalize inventory management. By supporting local innovation, we secure our factories' supply chains with tools adapted to the Cameroonian context," highlights the Head of the Innovation Hub at SPX-CMR.
