Cameroon-canada partnership : a new impetus for sme financing and competitiveness
On wednesday, March 19, 2026, in Yaoundé, the Minister of SMEs, Social Economy, and Handicrafts, Achille Bassilekin III, received in audience H.E. Marie-Claude Harvey, High Commissioner of Canada to Cameroon. This strategic meeting, reported by the Ministry's official channels, opens major perspectives for strengthening the national entrepreneurial fabric.
The discussions focused on priority axes for the modernization of our enterprises: the diversification of financing mechanisms and the capacity building of entrepreneurs. Canada, recognized forits expertise in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, stands as a partner of choice to help Cameroonian SMEs better structure their financial files and negotiate effectively with international investors.
This cooperation targets sectors with high subcontracting potential, such as agriculture, mining, healthcare, and renewable energy, thereby aligning with a dynamic of inclusive and sustainable growth.
An asset for accessing global markets
For the SPX-CMR, this rapprochement with Canada represents an opportunity for standardization and scaling up for local SMEs.
