He has explicitly announced that he has authorized the start of three large-scale projects aimed at developing the sector.

“If it istrue that our country has a subsoil rich in mineral resources, the mining sector, excluding oil, contributes only 1% of the Gross Domestic Product. The President announces that the year 2023 will therefore be marked by the start of work relating to the exploitation of Kribi-Lobé iron ore. This project includes the construction of an iron enrichment plant, a pipeline of about 20 kilometers anda power plant of 60 megawatts.

Added to this is the exploitation of the Mbalam-Nabeba iron deposit with immense benefits for the country, including a 540-kilometre railway line between Nabeba in Congo and the Port of Kribi, where a ore terminal.

The third project announced by the Head of State concerning the mining sector relates to the exploitation of iron from Bipindi-Grand Zambi, with the development of a steel complex for the local processing of iron, the construction of a pipeline and several basic infrastructures for the benefit of the populations.

According to Paul Biya, a decisive step has already been taken in the realization of these various projects, with the signing of the related mining agreements and the granting of operating permits to the winning companies.
