The spx trains on safety and health at work
The institution and the Afrilead firm are organizing this May 4 and 5 in Douala a training course on health and safety at work for the benefit of local companies.
The thirty or so participants, most of whom are managers in local businesses, are overflowing with questions as each speaker passes by. Some do not hesitate to share their enriching experiences with the panel and the public present. Facts that testify to the quality of the participants and the themes selected by the Cameroon Subcontracting and Partnership Exchange and its partner Afrilead for this second edition of the "safety days". This is the baptismal name given by the two institutions to this event which they intend to organize each year as a prelude to the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
According to Franck Mengue, QHS expert who presented on the issues of safety and health at work, 270 million workers are victims of work accidents each year. 370,000 die from it. One indicator among many others that justifies the interest that the United Nations and many actors attach to this issue. Like him, the other speakers have repeatedly come back to the advantages and consequences of taking and not taking into account safety and health issues at work.
A normative framework based on international and national texts organizes the consideration of safety and health at work. According to Adèle Massem, inspector at the regional delegation of labor and social security for the Littoral, "It will be necessary to promote patriotism in business, integrate the corporate culture, promote your business and defend it" she advised in her speaking engagement. According to her, the relationship between employers and employees is structured in the texts. She advises to master them well for a healthy and secure professional environment. "there must be close collaboration between the boss and the employer when developing health and safety programs...we give less importance to issues related to workers' health than to safety issues that it is often difficult to solve, because a workstation can be safe, but not necessarily healthy,” she denounces.
The SPX and its partner Afrilead preach for a paradigm shift and better consideration in the future of safety and health at work. The two days of ongoing training are the presumption of a better future.
