Bamenda urban crossing : bun’s construction accelerates hydraulic works phase
Construction work on the Bamenda urban crossing, a strategic link of the Bamenda-Enugu corridor, is seeing a significant intensification. As of February 23, 2026, the company BUN’S is deploying its teams on the hydraulic works and earth works fronts to transform mobility in the North-West regional capital.
The Bamenda urban boulevard is taking shape. Along a total route of 6.5 km, the project’s right-of-way has been cleared for nearly 4km, allowing for the rapid execution of general earth works. The current focus is on sanitation, with seven hydraulic structures under construction. In the prefabrication workshops, production is ramping up: over 2,500 linear meters of gutters and 158 meters of culverts are already available, marking a major milestone in meeting the delivery schedule.
This project, which serves as the natural extension of the Babadjou-Bamenda axis, benefits from close coordination for the relocation of public utility networks, facilitating the installation of prefabricated elements. The goal is to provide the city with modern infrastructure capable of supporting international traffic flows while sustainably improving the living conditions of the local population.
A lever for technical subcontracting and construction services
For the SPX-CMR, this large-scale site serves as a showcase for the expertise of local SMEs operating within the construction value chain. The densification of hydraulic works and the massive prefabrication of concrete elements open real opportunities for material suppliers and local technical service providers.
"The Bamenda urban crossing is not just a road project; it is a civil engineering laboratory. The mobilization of BUN’S creates an ecosystem where local subcontractors in transport, equipment rental, and aggregate supply play a leading role," emphasizes a site engineer. The rigor required in the prefabrication of gutters and culverts pushes partner companies toward an essential technical upgrade to meet the durability standards of the Bamenda-Enugu corridor.
This infrastructure dynamic, a pillar of the SND30,confirms that the development of major transport axes is the engine of regional growth. For the members of the Exchange, the success of this urban crossing demonstrates that the ability to integrate into high-tech projects is the key to sustainably capturing value-added from national public procurement.
